Die Nominierungen für die Grammys in 2022 sind raus und queer Superstar Lil Nas X ist insgesamt fünf Mal gelistet. Der Grammy ist der wichtigste Musikpreis der Welt, steht aber auch seit Jahren für viele Entscheidungen in der Kritik.
„Montero (Call Me By Your Name)“ wurde Anfang des Jahres vor dem Debütalbum zu einem Monsterhit. Somit ist es kein Wunder, dass er für den Song des Jahres, die Platte des Jahres und das beste Musikvideo nominiert ist. Die Texte und das Video zeigen, wie der 22-Jährige sich weigert, sich vor seiner Queerness und Sexualität zu verstecken, während er „I’m not fazed, only here to sin“ singt und für Satan einen Lapdance hinlegt. Lieben wir!
Weiter ist Lil Nas X für das Beste Album mit Montero und die beste Melodic Rap-Performance nominiert. Zwei Grammy hat er übrigens schon. „Old Town Road (Remix)“ gewann 2020 als bestes Musikvideo und die beste Pop-Duo- / Gruppenperformance bei den Grammys.
Jon Batiste ist die Überraschung
Lil Nas X feierte die News auf Social Medien mit den Worten: „(ich) muss keinen einzigen Preis gewinnen, wirklich dankbar für all die Erkenntnisse, die mir dieses Jahr gebracht hat. Und dankbar für die Reise“. Nas ist in kürzester Zeit zu einem Sinnbild der queeren Community weltweit geworden, weil er sich und seine Queerness feiert und bedingungslos er selbst ist.
Die größte Überraschung ist jedoch Jon Batiste, der gefühlvolle Musiker, der auch als Bandleader bei „The Late Show with Stephen Colbert“ fungiert. Er führt mit 11 Nominierungen die Liste an. Die Chartstürmer Justin Bieber, H.E.R., Doja Cat, Billie Eilish und Olivia Rodrigo folgten alle mit mehreren Nominierungen. Auch Tony Bennett und Lady Gaga sind gemeinsam nominiert.
