Tony Bennett ist 95 Jahre alt, 19-facher Grammy-Preisträger und einst von Frank Sinatra als der „beste Sänger im Business“ betitelt worden. Zusammen mit Lady Gaga hat er nun ein MTV Unplugged performt, was gleichzeitig ein Abschied für Bennett ist.

„Love For Sale“, das neue und zweite Kollaborations-Album von Tony Bennett und Lady Gaga, wurde am 1. Oktober veröffentlicht. Genau 10 Jahre nachdem sie das erste Mal gemeinsam Musik gemacht haben, sind sie ins Studio zurück gekehrt um „Love For Sale“ aufzunehmen und ihr musikalisches Vermächtnis, das mit „Lady Is A Trump“ angefangen hat, gefolgt von dem Grammy-Award-Album „Cheek To Cheek“, fortzusetzen.  

Tonys letzte Studio-Aufnahme

Diese historische Veröffentlichung wird auch gleichzeitig Tonys letzte Studio-Aufnahme sein, sie präsentiert das Cole Porter Songbook mit klassischer, populärer Musik sowohl mit Duetten als auch Solo-Aufnahmen beider Künstler. Begleitet werden sie dabei von Tony Bennetts Quartett, dem Brian Newman Quintet, zusammen mit Big Band und Orchester-Arrangements von Marion Evans und Jorge Callandrelli. Ihr Duett „I Get A Kick Out Of You“ war die erste Singleauskopplung, gefolgt von dem Duett „Love For Sale“.

Und jetzt gibt es weitere tolle News: „Love For Sale“ wurde vor kurzem für insgesamt sechs Grammys nominiert und machte Jazz-Legende Tony Bennett damit zum ältesten nominierten Künstler aller Zeiten in den Hauptkategorien! Der 95-jährige legt aber nun gemeinsam mit Lady Gaga noch ein Highlight nach: „MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga“ wurde weltweit auf MTV ausgestrahlt. Die beiden präsentierten hier Songs aus dem aktuellen Album – und das ganze Spektakel bzw. zwei Songs davon kann man sich hier anschauen.

Bennett leidet unter einer Alzheimer-Erkrankung

Tony Bennett leidet seit Jahren unter einer Alzheimer-Erkrankung, die im Februar öffentlich gemacht wurde. „Das Leben ist ein Geschenk – auch mit Alzheimer“, postete er auf seinem Twitteraccount und dankte seiner Frau und seiner Familie für ihre Unterstützung. Somit feiert Bennett mit diesen Auftritten mit Gaga seinen Abschied von der Bühne und Musik. / Berry
