So queer sind die Grammy Nominierungen für 2023!

Die Grammy Nominierungen für die 65. Verleihung wurden bekannt gegeben. Wie immer gibt es viele Überraschungen und Enttäuschungen. Doch während alle wild diskutieren, wie relevant und vor allem aussagekräftig diese Verleihung überhaupt noch ist, werfe ich mal ein Blick auf die queeren Nominierungen.

Mit Hunderten von Nominierten in 91 Kategorien, die verschiedene Genres und Medien repräsentieren, ist man schon schnell überwältigt. Die komplette Liste an Grammy Nominierungen findet ihr unten, doch hier gibt es einige queere Highlights, die wichtige Nominierungen erhalten haben.

Sam Smith & Kim Petras

„Unholy“ von Sam Smith und Kim Petras ist ein Hit, der die Billboard-Charts stürmte und Geschichte schrieb. Sam Smith ist der/die erste nicht-binäre Künstler*in und Kim Petras die erste Transfrau, die mit einem Song auf Platz 1 der US Charts landeten. Mit der Grammy Nominierung in der Kategorie „Best Pop Duo/Group Performance“ erhalten die beiden nun eine weitere Auszeichnung. Für Petras ist es die erste Nominierung überhaupt und für Sam Smith die siebte.

Renaissance

Auch wenn Beyoncé technisch gesehen nicht queer ist, ist das komplette „Renaissance“-Album eine Ode an die queere Geschichte und die Ballroom-Szene. Mit eklektischen Einflüssen und einer langen Liste von Credits wurde das Album für eine Reihe von queeren und transsexuellen Künstlern nominiert, darunter auch Ts Madison. Somit ist Beyoncés Album aufgrund der vielen beteiligten queeren Personen und der Geschichte hinter dem Album, das wohl queerste Werk bei den Grammys. Wenn sie im kommenden Februar vier Mal gewinnt, wird sie offiziell die erfolgreichste Künstlerin aller Zeiten bei den Grammys sein!

Weitere queere Nominierungen

Weitere queere Nominierungen konnte der bisexuelle Künstler Steve Lacy verbuchen u.a. für „Best Progressive R&B Album“. Die queere Singer-Songwriterin Brandi CarlileBrandi ist u.a. für „Album Of The Year“, „Best Americana Album for In These Silent Days“, „Record Of The Year“ und „Best Americana Performance“ nominiert. Omar Apollo ist zudem für „Best New Artist“ nominiert. Weitere Allys der LGBTQ-Community die nominiert sind, sind Lady Gaga für „Hold My Hand“ und auch ABBA.
