14 lange Jahre sind seit ihrem letzten Album vergangen, nun kann die Musikwelt kollektiv aufatmen: Missy „Misdemeanor“ Elliott ist zurück! Heute erscheint die neue EP „Iconology“ der Hip-Hop-Ikone, die gleich 5 neue Tracks enthält.
Dieses Jahr wurde die 48-Jährige als erste Rapperin überhaupt in die Songwriters Hall of Fame aufgenommen und bekommt am Montag (26.08.) bei den MTV VMAs den Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award überreicht – ebenfalls als erste Rapperin in der Historie der Awards. Im Rahmen der Show performt Elliott außerdem live.
Missy Elliott setzte mit ihrer Musik, ihren Texte, ihren Videos und die gesamte Attitüde neue Standards. Gleich ihr 1997 veröffentlichtes Debütalbum „Supa Supa Fly“ bescherte ihr mit Platz 3 in den US-Charts das bis dato bestplatzierte Album einer Rapperin in der amerikanischen Chartgeschichte, ist US-Platin-veredelt und enthielt mit „The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)“, „Sock It 2 Me“, „Hit Em wit da Hee“ und „Beep Me 911“ reihenweise Genre-prägende Singles. Es folgten fünf weitere, international vielfach Platin-veredelte Alben, etliche Singles – zuletzt 2017 „I’m Better“ – und immer wieder aufsehenerregende Features, jüngst an der Seite von Lizzo in deren Song „Tempo“.
Die erste Single aus der neuen EP ist „Throw It Back“. Hier gibt es das Musikvideo zur neuen Nummer und die EP ist ab sofort auf allen Streaming Portalen online.
