Während die Pop-Welt am vergangenem Freitag die Geburt von Lady Gagas „Chromatica“-Album gefeiert hat, hat Britney Sprears ganz überraschend einen Song veröffentlicht, der direkt auf Platz 1 der Charts schoss.
Popikone Britney Spears hat den Song „Mood Ring“ sozusagen neu aufgelegt. Denn der jetzt veröffentlichte Song war 2016 nur auf der in Japan zu kaufenden Version des Albums „Glory“ enthalten. Was damals ein Bonustrack war, wurde nun als „Mood Ring (By Demand)“ veröffentlicht. Sprich, „Mood Ring“ wurde dank der enormen Nachfrage der BritneyArmy (deswegen der Zusatz „by Demand“) endlich auf allen Streamingdienste und bei iTunes, außerhalb von Japan, hochgeladen.
„Mood Ring“ ging überraschender Weise in den US Single Charts direkt auf Platz 1, womit es Lady Gaga’s „Chromatica“-Songs blockierte. „Da wir ihn nicht verwendet haben, geht er jetzt an euch raus. Ich hoffe ihr dreht ganz laut auf“, schreibt Britney bei ihrem Post zu dem Song. Bereits im Mai wurde das nicht benutzte Cover ihres Albums „Glory“ veröffentlicht, welches Dave LaChappelle schoss. Ebenso wie das Video zu „Make Me…“, das LaChappele drehte, wurde auch das Coverbild als „zu sexy“ eingestuft und nicht verwendet.
Für mich ist „Mood Ring“ eine der besten Nummer, die in den letzten 10 Jahren von Britney veröffentlicht wurden. Ihre Stimme klingt perfekt, nicht zu bearbeitet und nicht zu verfremdet. Der Stil des Songs erinnert an die glorreiche „Blackout“-Ära und verkörpert den Sound, der Britney am besten steht. Ein Sound, den sich Britney hätte beibehalten sollen. Ich bin begeistert. / Berry
