Wenn man von einer „Angleichung“ des Körpers spricht, denkt man sicherlich zuerst an Transsexualität. Also an eine Person, die sich mit dem für ihm/sie sozial und rechtlich festgelegtem Geschlecht nicht identifiziert. Transmenschen haben in der Regel einen langen Weg hinter sich. Einen Weg zu dem Köper, in dem sie/er sich sehen und fühlen. Somit wäre es vermessen, dies einer körperlichen Veränderung durch Sport gleich zu setzte. Doch man kann tatsächlich vorsichtig parallelen ziehen und wenn man dies tut, fragt man sich, wieso nicht mehr Empathie für Transmenschen aufgebracht wird.
Auch wenn man sich dem Geschlecht des eigenen Körpers zugehörig fühlt, gleichen viele Menschen ihren Körper den eigenen Wunschvorstellungen an. Während dies oft über Fashion, Tattoos oder Trends passiert, passen Andere ihren Körper durch Sport an. Ausdauertraining und Krafttraining werden zwar als gesunder Lifestyle verkauft, haben aber für viele Menschen vordergründig ein optisches Ziel. Statistiken zeigen, dass Frauen in der Regel eher abnehmen wollen und Männer mehr Muskelmasse zulegen wollen.
