Am Samstag überraschte Rapper Kid Cudi, bei seinem Auftritt in der „Saturday Night Live“-Show, mit einem wallenden Blumenkleid. Dabei hat das Kleid gleich mehrere Botschaften, die der Künstler damit offen ansprechen will. Bravo!
Zunächst ist das Blumenkleid eine Hommage an den mittlerweile seit 27 Jahren verstorbenen Sänger der Band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain. Dieser trug ein ähnlich gemustertes Blumenkleid bei einigen Gigs in den 90ern. Kurz Cobain nahm sich am 05. April 1994 das Leben, nachdem er jahrelang mit psychischen Problemen zu kämpfen hatte und einer der großen Musik-Ikonen der 90er.
Depressionen & Mental Health
Cudi litt selbst unter Depressionen und suchte 2016 professionelle Hilfe auf. Dieses Thema verarbeitet er bis heute in vielen seiner Songs. Mit diesem Blumenkleid und der Homage an Cobain, will Kid Cudi zeitgleich auf die Wichtigkeit von Mental Health hinweisen. Im Netz wird er dafür gefeiert. Denn bis heute sind psychische Krankheiten ein Tabu in der Gesellschaft, vor allem bei Männer.
Neben Lob, äußerte sich die Trans*-Aktivist*in Munroe Bergdorf auch etwas kritisch. Sie sagt, dass Menschen wie Cudi für so eine Aktion Applaus bekommen, während viele Menschen im Alltag durch transphobe und homophobe Gewalt „verteufelt und beängstigt“ werden. Dennoch lobte sie die Tatsache, dass immer mehr CIS Männer ihre weibliche Seite ausleben.
Cudi ist schon lange Cobain-Fan
Entworfen wurde das Blumenkleid von dem US-amerikanischen Designer und DJ Virgil Abloh. Die beiden hatten bereits am Merchandise für Cudis Single „Leader Of The Delinquents“ zusammengearbeitet. Kid Cudi präsentierte im vorigen Jahr zudem auf Instagram sein neuestes Cobain-Tattoo und macht kein Geheimnis aus seiner Liebe zu dem Musiker. / Berry
