10 frische Queer-Musiker, die Du auf dem Schirm haben solltest!

Die LGBT+ Musikszene ist breiter und größer, als wir alle denken. Es gibt viele Künstler, die ehemals homophobe Genres wie Hip Hop, Latin oder auch EDM mit ihren Sounds aufmischen und der Welt ihre queere Geschichte erzählen. Hier ist ein Blick auf genau diese Künstler!

Künstler wie Madonna, Boy George, Cher, Prince oder Kylie Minogue haben sicherlich den Weg für viele LGBT+ Musiker geöffnet und die schwule Popkultur geprägt. Stars wie Adam Lambert, Todrick Hall, Halsey, Janelle Monáe, Tyler the Creator und Troye Sivan wären heute vielleicht nicht da, wo sie sind, ohne diese Ikonen.

Doch neben Madonna & Co. gibt es viel mehr LGBT+ Künstler, als wir denken und dennoch nicht kennen. Nicht, weil sie untalentiert sind, sondern weil sie im Mainstream keinen Platz finden. KING PRINZESS

Der Shootingstar aus Brooklyn King Princess hat mit “Cheap Queen” die erste Single aus ihrem kommenden Debütalbum veröffentlicht. Die junge Musikerin wird international als der Queer Popstar gefeiert. Ihre Debütsingle “1950” sowie die EP “Make My Bed” wurden letztes Jahr sowohl vom Publikum als auch von den Medien wie Musikexpress (Hotlist 2019), Pitchfork, MTV, Refinery 29, i-D und vielen vielen mehr hochgelobt.  

LIZZO

KANDY

Obwohl House und Dance Music seinen Ursprung in der queeren Szene finden, sind es doch die heterosexuellen Männer, die diese Szene dominieren. Der in New York lebende Produzent und DJ „Kandy“ ist da sicherlich eine Ausnahme. Sein Musikvideo „Feelin´KNT“ ist eine Homage an die Drag-Szene und seine neue Single „Keeping Secrets“ zusammen mit Madison Rose ist ein toller Pride Sommer Song!

Daniel Francis

Daniel Francis ist ebenfalls aus Deutschland und veröffentlichte passend zum Pride Month seine neue Single „Rumors“. Der Song ist eine tanzbare Kampfansage mit Lächeln im Gesicht an alle Hater: „Lass die Leute nur reden, denn das werden sie sowieso: Always be proud!“ In den Sozialen Medien postet der Künstler regelmässig zu dem Thema und setzt so ein deutliches Regenbogen-Zeichen für die LGBTQ-Szene. „Rumors“ ist die erste Single aus dem im September erscheinenden Debütalbum „Freedom & Danger“.

LUIS GAMARRA

Da lateinamerikanische Musiker weiterhin die Popkultur infiltrieren (siehe Maluma, Rosalia & Co.), ist es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis ein Neuling spanischsprachige Songs durch die queere Linse abliefert. Luis Gamarra lebt in Boston und ist so etwas wie die lateinamerikanische Antwort auf Troye Sivan.

NAKHANE

Nakhane ist nicht nur ein begnadeter Musiker, sondern auch talentierter Schauspieler. Sein Können beweist er als Hauptdarsteller in dem bahnbrechenden südafrikanischen Film „The Wound“. Doch auch seine Musik bewegt die Menschen. Geboren in der südafrikanischen Kleinstadt Alice und aufgewachsen in der nicht allzu weit entfernten Metropole Port Elizabeth, erinnert diese ganz besondere Reinheit seiner Vocals angenehm an sein großes Vorbild Anohni, die „mein ganzes Leben verändert hat.“ Nakhane lebt heute als offen schwuler Künstler, doch das war nicht immer so: „Als ich noch ein bekennender Christ war und jeden Tag zu Gott betete, war ich voller Selbsthass. Jeden Tag meines Lebens habe ich verzweifelt versucht, alles zu tun, um wie die anderen Menschen zu sein und heterosexuell zu fühlen. Ich habe mich sogar irgendwie davon überzeugen lassen, es wäre möglich, meine Homosexualität zu „heilen“. Ich habe ständig in Angst gelebt, meine Gefühle eines Tages nicht mehr kontrollieren zu können.“
